Mon atlas 3D

Installation / 2019-2021 / Paper, pins / 110 cm x 244 cm x 367 cm

On the scale of a large model, I create a utopian territory in homage to the places I inhabit. This self-portrait illustrates my interest in architecture and geography as well as my attachment to the land.

Mon atlas

I was five years old when I first climbed Mont Saint-Hilaire to Pain de Sucre. Witness to my childhood escapades, the mountain has been a refuge, but also a world to explore. As teenagers, under the influence of substances, we believed in various beliefs such as that the mountain was a landing place for aliens (Invisible fields). The series includes ten other plates.

Collages / 2016 / paper, pins, acrylic / 102 x 122 x 9 cm

Le Jeu du collectionneur

Personal exhibition at Centre d’exposition Circa, Montréal, Québec

Commissionner: Pascale Beaudet

Year of achievement: 2008

Material: Found objects, wood, acrylic

The basis of the exhibition is a wall installation of more than 600 found objects, meticulously classified according to their dimensions that, for decades, Gilbert Poissant has amassed aimlessly. This wall sculpture presents a dichotomous aspect since the playfulness of the gathering opposes the seriousness of the classification and the assembly.

Objets spécifiques

Specific items are chosen from those in the Collector's Game. The digitization of each of the 600 objects produces a "letter" which will make up an alphabet. This graphic vocabulary is used by Gilbert to create endless other works on porcelain or paper.
